FDA: Premarket Approval (PMA) Required for Existing Vape Flavored Products
March 13, 2019: The FDA announced premarket approval requirements for all flavored e-cigarette products, with a deadline to file by August 8, 2021. This new deadline is one year earlier than previously proposed. No flavored tobacco products will be allowed on the market if they have not submitted applications to the FDA after this date. The FDA has stated they believe this will cause some flavored tobacco products to no longer be on the market.

The CDC has a new report on tobacco use among minors, and they are sounding the alarm over the results. After years of progress to reduce the amount of teens consuming tobacco, tobacco use rose dramatically in 2018. Vaping in particular exploded upward, 4.9 million high school students now use tobacco products.

Exploding Vape Kills Again – This Time in Texas
William Eric Brown was killed in Forth Worth after an exploding vape sent shrapnel into his head and severed his carotid artery. William was outside a vape shop when the vape pen explosion occurred. This is the second death in two years in the United States from vape explosions.

Mice Study: Lung Damage and Lung Inflammation From Vaping Worse Than Smoking
The e-cigarette industry adamantly promotes vaping as a safe alternative to smoking regular cigarettes. Not true, according to a study published in the American Journal of Physiology, Lung Cellular and Molecular Physiology. The study used mice to compare the relative damage to lungs when exposed to regular cigarettes, e-juice with and without nicotine, and e-juice with both nicotine and flavor-adding chemicals. The study found significant signs of increasing lung damage in mice exposed to e-juice, especially those where e-juice was flavored.
