$9 Million Verdict in Florida for Talcum Powder Mesothelioma

Florida: $9 Million Talcum Powder Mesothelioma Verdict

Johnson and Johnson (J&J) is in court fighting lawsuits alleging asbestos in talc has resulted in mesothelioma from talcum powder products such as baby powder.  J&J recently settled a lawsuit on the verge of trial, but took a second trial to verdict.

In the Circuit Court of the 11th Judicial District for Miami-Dade Florida, a jury found Johnson & Johnson liable for causing mesothelioma in a baby powder purchaser.  The jury awarded the plaintiff $9 million in total, $3 million for medical expenses related to her terminal diagnosis and $6 million for pain and suffering.  J&J claims they will appeal the verdict.
