Specializing in:

  • Sexual Assault
  • Sexual Abuse
  • Product Liability

Meghan McCormick is senior counsel at Levin Simes Abrams LLP in San Francisco. Her practice encompasses both complex mass tort matters and individual personal cases in both federal and state court. Meghan prides herself on the personal relationships she develops with her clients, even in the context of mass tort pharmaceutical litigation.

For the past year, Ms. McCormick’s practice has focused almost exclusively on pursuing cases against rideshare companies Uber and Lyft on behalf of survivors who were sexually assaulted by a rideshare driver. In addition to seeking justice for sexual assault survivors, Meghan continues to advocate on behalf of women harmed by dangerous medical devices and pharmaceutical products. She has had significant involvement in the Johnson and Johnson talcum powder MDL and JCCP product liability litigations. Meghan also represents victims of the 2017 North Bay Fires.

Prior to this, Meghan spent several years litigating in the trenches on behalf of women injured by transvaginal mesh products manufactured by Boston Scientific, Bard, Ethicon and AMS. Over the past 17 years Meghan has represented thousands of clients harmed defective and or dangerous pharmaceutical products, including Zyprexa, Ortho Evra, Bextra, Celebrex, Accutane, Yaz/Yasmin, Byetta, Reglan, SSRI antidepressants, Actonel, Fosamax and denture cream. Meghan actively worked with the plaintiffs’ steering committee for several multidistrict litigations (MDLs), including the Zyprexa MDL in the Eastern District of New York, the Ortho Evra MDL in the Northern District of Ohio, the Yaz/Yasmin MDL in the Southern District of Illinois, and the Fosamax MDL in the Southern District of New York, the Bard, Ethicon, Boston Scientific and AMS Transvaginal Mesh MDLs in the Southern District of West Virginia and the Johnson & Johnson Talcum Powder MDL in New Jersey.

Meghan was on the trial team for several Fosamax trials, including one of the first Fosamax MDL trials, the only one of which resulted in a plaintiff’s verdict─ Boles v. Merck, in which the 72 year old plaintiff, Shirley Boles, was awarded $8 million in compensatory damages.

Over the course of her career, Meghan has spoken at several seminars and conferences regarding the scientific and discovery issues involved in the various pharmaceutical cases she has worked on. She is active with the American Association of Justice and the San Francisco Trial Lawyers Association.

Meghan received her BA cum laude from Northwestern University, where she was also captain of the Women’s Golf Team. She received her juris doctorate from the University of Wisconsin Law School in 2000. Upon graduating law school, she clerked for Justice James Gilbert of the Minnesota Supreme Court.

Meghan lives in Marin County with her husband John and daughter Keira. In her spare time, she enjoys golfing, skiing, wine tasting and spending time enjoying Northern California’s beautiful coastline.
