Equal Rights Advocates 2015
On June 11, 2015, Amy Eskin, Rachel Abrams, and others from Levin Simes attended the 2015 Equal Rights Advocates Gala Luncheon—Forging Ahead—where we celebrated ERA’s 41 years of groundbreaking work making sure girls and boys feel safe at school so they can learn effectively, advocating in favor of equal pay for equal work, and taking on sexual harassment in the workplace. The Gala’s Keynote Speaker, Patricia Arquette, is a Wage Equity Champion whose courageous eloquence on the topic of fair pay has advanced discussion on an international stage about how wage inequality harms everyone. ERA also honored BHS Stop Harassing with its Champion of Justice award for the amazing work these students and parents have done to educate an entire community about sexual harassment at school.
Rachel Abrams, Partner, is a leader in the fight for women who have been injured by transvaginal mesh products. She is on the Plaintiff’s Steering Committee for the MDLs against American Medical Systems, Inc., Boston Scientific Corp., C.R. Bard, Inc., Coloplast Corp., and Ethicon Inc. Rachel is also one of two settlement liaison counsels appointed by Judge William Highberger, Los Angeles Superior Court, to oversee efforts to settle cases for over 2,000 women throughout the United States who have been injured by transvaginal mesh products manufactured by Caldera Medical, Inc. She serves on the Plaintiff’s Steering Committee and the Science Committee representing men who’ve been injured from using testosterone replacement therapy products, as well as widows who have lost their husbands due to these drugs. Rachel is on the Plaintiff’s Steering Committee for the Mirena IUD MDL, as well, advocating on behalf of women who have suffered injury because of perforation or migration of Mirena IUD.
Amy Eskin, Of Counsel, has passionately litigated on behalf of men, women and children injured by defective products for over 27 years. For the past several years, she has served as one of two lead counsels in the American Medical Systems transvaginal mesh MDL. Her efforts as co-lead counsel have been instrumental in the settlement of thousands of cases brought by women all over the country because of horrific injuries these women sustained from defective AMS transvaginal mesh products. Most recently, Amy represents children born with birth defects because their mothers were prescribed Zofran (ondansetron) for nausea and vomiting during their pregnancies.
